Value Engineering (VE) is a powerful methodology for solving problems and/or reducing costs, without compromising the performance and quality requirements. VE is a systematic application of recognized techniques which identifies the functions of the product, service or system, establish the worth of those functions and provide the necessary functions to meet the required performance at the lowest overall cost. The function analysis in VE helps to analyse and improve existing products, components, systems, manufacturing/ processes and also in developing new designs.

Value Management (VM) also helps achieve an optimum balance between function, performance, quality, safety, and cost. The proper balance results in the maximum value for the product.

To enable the Indian industry to leverage this powerful tool, CII TPM Club India, is organizing a 3-Day workshop on the methods and direct application of Value Engineering.

As a recognition, each participant would be given a ‘CERTIFICATE’ acknowledged by SAVE International (Society of American Value Engineers), and authorized by the faculty.

The primary objective of the workshop is to provide the participants a firm understanding, and practical insights into VE methodologies, thereby enabling them to apply at their respective Product manufacturing premises, to achieve Material Cost Reduction, Functionality Improvement and Product Quality enhancement.

The 3-Day workshop is organized based on the original method as developed by Mr Lawrence D Miles, in a 6 phase - approach together with, the Pre-work and Post-work stages. The pattern of the workshop has also taken into consideration the growing requirements of manufacturing industry. The course style would be of Team exercises in addition to the faculty explanations.

Following would be the broad focus areas:

Project Selection, Structuring Information, VE Job Plan involving 6 phases, Function Analysis, FAST Technique, Development of FAST Diagram, Various tools of Creation Phase, Evaluation Methodologies, Factors to be considered for Project Implementation, Implementation Plan, Project Recommendation, Project Audit etc. The contents are globally acknowledged and proven across the spectrum of several industrial sectors.

(The workshop would be best suited for: )

  • Design Engineering professionals who are responsible for product design in any capacity. (Design managers, engineers, product testing engineers, etc.,)
  • Procurement professionals who are responsible for direct-material procurement, involved in product manufacturing. (Supply module managers, Purchase Managers, Vendor Sourcing Teams, Buyers, etc.,)
  • Manufacturing Professionals who are responsible and directly involved in production processes.
  • Quality professionals who are answerable to OEM Customers and associated with in-house conversion processes. (Process Quality Engineers, SQA, CQA engineers, etc.)
  • Manufacturing systems Engineering professionals responsible for process design, process finalization,
  • Etc.

Also, TPM practicing companies who are at various stages of implementation, would find this workshop to be directly applicable in their journey towards achieving manufacturing excellence. They can synergize the VE methodologies in the KK and OFFICE TPM Pillar activities.

Although this workshop is anchored more towards the manufacturing sector, participants from other industries would also find it very much applicable.
